The island seems to possess unique healing properties, with the result that we have adjusted to a slower pace of life. The scenery fits with the archetypal pictures of paradise we have all seen and this has allowed us to be more in touch with nature. Rush hour consists of two goats, a kid and maybe a hen with her chicks.
We have learned to slow down our pace and develop the art of waiting. Or as they say in Swahili, “polepole”, “slowly, gently, slowly”. Waking at sunrise and falling asleep at sunset, our circadian rhythms have fallen in line with the natural rhythm of the environment.
